  • Our Monastic Community

    Lerab Ling is home to a thriving community of monastic practitioners who observe a daily schedule of prayer and meditation, following one of the most ancient lineages of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition (the Nyingma school). It is a time-honoured tradition in Buddhism to make offerings to the ordained spiritual community (Sangha). According to the teachings of the Buddha himself, this is an especially meaningful way to practice generosity and accumulate merit.

  • Lerab Ling’s Practice Holders – the life-force of Rigpa

    Your contribution will support and strengthen the community of practitioners in Lerab Ling who, besides the Daily Group Practice, hold 24 different daily, weekly, monthly and yearly practices.

    To ensure our strong lineage of practice in Rigpa, we wish to train more practitioners, develop and offer a thorough Vajrayana practice curriculum, and support the world-wide sangha with more streaming possibilities and study material.

  • Light of Dharma Grants

    Your donation to the Light of Dharma Grants will help create the best circumstances for our current teachers to develop and gain experience, to deepen their study and practice and to mentor and educate others to manifest as authentic lineage holders.

    It will also help secure our legacy by sponsoring projects and programmes developed in Rigpa that use new channels to share the Dharma, in ways most adapted to these times of great unpredictability and fast-developing technologies.

  • Grants for Practising Communities

    Rigpa’s main retreat centres Lerab Ling, Dzogchen Beara, Dharma Mati, and Sukhavati are home to vibrant communities of monastic and lay practitioners, following one of the most ancient lineages of Tibetan Buddhism.  They observe a daily schedule of meditation and prayers, aimed at the well-being and happiness of all beings, irrespective of their religious orientation.  Their commitment is to hold all daily, weekly and monthly group practices, fully participate in drupchös, practice intensives, while supporting Rigpa centres and students with providing practice texts, instructions and guidance.

Prayer Requests

  • The Anniversary of Khandro Tsering Chödrön, 20 to 22 May

    Khandro Tsering Chödrön was revered as one of the greatest woman masters of recent times and her presence at Lerab Ling during the final years of her life was a tremendous source of blessing for all who came into contact with her. In loving memory of this great master, a traditional Buddhist Stupa containing her relics was built in Lerab Ling. Every year at the time of her anniversary we hold special practices with abundant offerings to celebrate her extraordinary life.

  • For ill health, end of life or difficulties (Daily Tendrel Nyesel)

    Requests for this practice are read out or projected for 7 days during the daily Tendrel Nyesel practice which is the main practice of the Rigpa community. This practice is especially aimed at eliminating and transforming inauspicious circumstances. Suggested offering €20.

  • For the deceased

    The name of the deceased is read out or projected during the daily Riwo Sangchö (Mountain Smoke Offering) practice for 3 days in a row and then for 7 consecutive weeks on the weekday of their passing.
    Additionally, the name is included for 7 weeks in the Dukngal Rangdrol (Self-Liberation of Suffering) practice, held every week by a specialist group of senior members of the monastic community and lay practitioners. 
    And Narak Kong Shak (Powerful Confession Practice), that is being held 6 days a week. 
    Suggested offering €40.

  • Sponsoring Tendrel Nyesel on a Special Day

    To do practice and say prayers on special days in the Buddhist calendar, is said to be even more powerful. Such occasions are Guru Rinpoche Day and Dakini Day (the 10th and 25th days of each Tibetan month) as well as the four major Festival Days associated with the life of Buddha Shakyamuni.
    Sponsor the Tendrel Nyesel practice on these days, or any other day that is very important to you (e.g. for operations, exams, job interviews, lawsuits, etc.). Suggested offering:
    • on Guru Rinpoche and Dakini Days – €35
    • on the four major Buddhist Festival Days – €108
    • on a day important to you – €20

  • Dharma Protectors to support your spiritual path

    Dharma Protectors are emanations of the Buddha whose role it is to protect the teachings and those who practise them and to support practitioners in attaining spiritual realisation. These practices are performed every day by a group of specially trained practitioners in a dedicated shrine room. Suggested offering €50.

  • For the swift accomplishment of activities (Zabtik Drolchok)

    Requests for this practice are read out for two weeks during our daily practice of Zabtik Drolchok, the Profound Essence of Tara. This is a popular practice of Green Tara and is considered to be especially beneficial for the accomplishment of one’s projects and activities.
    Suggested offering €20.

  • To remove obstacles to a long life (Chime Pakme Nyingtik)

    Requests for this practice are read out for two weeks during our daily practice of Chime Pakme Nyingtik (Heart Essence of the Sublime Lady of Immortality). This is a long-life practice of White Tara. Many masters have been able to remove obstacles to their long life and enhance their accomplishments through this sadhana. Suggested offering €20.

  • For prayers and Ceremonies in the East

    The Prayer Request team facilitates in requesting divinations on what practices would be appropriate and favourable for you to sponsor in monasteries in the East. For these particular practices, before you make a donation, please contact prayer.requests@rigpa.org. Depending on the outcome of the divination, you can sponsor prayers and practices that will be carried out by the monastic community at Nubri Gompa in Nepal, a branch monastery of Kyabje Dodrupchen Rinpoche.

  • The Great Enlightenment Stupa of Awakening

    Following the advice of our masters, Lerab Ling has started to do all the preliminary work for building the Great Enlightenment Stupa of Awakening. It is dedicated to all living beings, that they may awaken to their true inner nature and discover the lasting peace and happiness that is beyond all suffering. The stupa will contain the relics of many great lineage masters as well as Sogyal Rinpoche and Mayum Tsering Wangmo.

  • Treasury of Wisdom – Preserving the Teachings

    Ever since Buddhism made its way to the West in the seventies, students around the world have recorded teachings of great masters like Dudjom Rinpoche, Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, Nyoshul Khen Rinpoche and Sogyal Rinpoche.

    The Rigpa Archives hold an incredible number of these unique teachings recorded on audio and videotapes which are naturally subject to decline. Most of the tapes have now been digitised.

    In 2025 your donations will contribute to upgrading the database that holds all the digitised teachings and to make them accessible to researchers; and students through courses and special releases.

    Around Khenpchen Namdrol Rinpoche’s monastery in Nepal, there are many destitute families who have no means of improving their life circumstances. The Manjushri Educational Project is now sponsoring the tuition for 60 children from class 1 to 8 in one of the best schools in Parphing, Nepal.
