Training in Spiritual Care
Over the past 17 years, the Spiritual Care Education Programme has worked with hospitals, hospices and universities around the world, bringing the Buddhist approach to care into a modern context. We have trained more than 30,000 healthcare professionals and volunteers worldwide in all areas of healthcare and social services, and have supported many people facing serious illness, death, or bereavement, as well as their families.
The Programme is particularly known for specialised training for those working in palliative, hospice and bereavement care. We have now expanded our professional training programme and launched Compassion and Presence, a new series of courses and seminars relevant to all health and social care professionals. The professional curriculum introduces an integrated approach to the practical, emotional and spiritual dimension of care for living and dying that goes beyond conventional medical models. Participants learn step-by-step how to integrate mindfulness, meditation, and compassion practices appropriately in any setting. This approach supports healing and transformation, strengthens the capacity to care, and can help to prevent and heal burnout.
